David's in Kennebunkport, Maine

Fond memories come to mind when I think of the small seacoast town of Kennebunkport, Maine. Back in my college days, I spent a summer there working at the Colony Hotel and jogging by George Bush’s house down the road. It has been a long time since then but my wife and I go back frequently for the shopping, ocean, and of course the food.

Which brings us to David's, a restaurant that opened back in 2013 right on the water. We had been watching the construction at the time and it was during a visit in early spring of that year when we finally figured out what was going into the space. As soon as we spied the beautiful wrap around wooden porch, we knew that it was time for another road trip to Maine.

Another view from the side:

We had a fantastic experience. From the food to the ambiance it doesn’t get much better than this!

We started out with some carbs in a delicious bread basked:

We then moved on to the marinated calamari in a sweet and sour sauce, amazing!

How’s this for an oxymoron? Look at these huge shrimp - these prawns are the largest we have ever had:

The baked haddock stuffed topped with a crab sauce, mushroom risotto, and spinach. This was a fantastic combination.

Blackened swordfish with a corn salsa and grilled polenta. Fabulous!

Dense chocolate cake with a peanut butter topping. We certainly were full from our meals but how can you pass this one up?

For places to stay, we recommend the White Barn Inn.
