Simon Pearce Restaurant, Quechee, Vermont. How far would you drive for the best Cheddar Cheese Soup?
Our next trip, takes us to the small town of Quechee, Vermont. Here, you will find the Simon Pearce Restaurant, a real culinary gem, you must hop in the car because it's definitely time for a road trip.
In addition to the amazing glass that is made right on premises, Simon Pearce has also mastered the fine art of running a top notch restaurant. My wife told me about this place and we have had wonderful lunches and Sunday brunch over the past couple of years. I know that if you visit you will feel the same. When you go, try to nab a seat on the screened terrace which overlooks the White River.
Simon Pearce is known for their glass and this is used extensively in their restaurant. Everything on the table is sold in their retail location adjacent to the restaurant including this glass creation.
If you like girly drinks you won't be be disappointed here. My wife claims that the pomegranate martini was fabulous and well worth the $14.00!
This is a no brainer and may be the best cheddar cheese soup you will ever have:
Gratined Chicken Artichoke Sandwich, fantastic!
And Sesamee Seared Chicken:
Chocolate Cinnamon Mousse with cherry citrus compote: Are you kidding! This was amazing and congratulations to Pastry Chef David Weatherman.
This does not give the view justice but will provide an idea of what the outside looks like.
After visiting The Simon Pearce Restaurant I have a few suggestions for things to do in the area.
First, walk around Simon Pearce Glass and enjoy their glass blowing exhibit located on the bottom floor of the building.
If you like nature, hiking, the outdoors etc... check out Quechee Gorge.
Take a drive down the road to the small town of Woodstock. You can walk around, check out the shops and if you are looking for a place to stay I strongly recommend the Woodstock Inn.
And finally, for you beer lovers drive a little further to the Long Trail Brewery.
