Small Restaurant Big Taste at Silver Fork in Manchester, VT

Manchester, Vermont is one of those quintessential New England towns that everyone should visit at least once. Think of green lush grass with beautiful white houses throughout as you drive along and find what we believe is the cutest of them all.

It had been several years since our last visit and seemed high time to return. My wife had found a newer restaurant, the Silver Fork, which may be one of the smallest in the country. With only six tables I wondered if a reservation could be had but we lucked out and our next road trip was born.
A husband and wife team opened the restaurant in 2011. There is an international flair to the menu due to the owner/chef studied under a German chef and that the couple lived in Puerto Rico for many years. Chef Mark attempts to use the freshest along with local ingredients and will tweak the menu to focus on foods that are in season.
Salmon strudel, talk about creative!

And stuffed cod, how can something so healthy taste this good?

Braised beef brisket & homemade spätzle topped with fresh grated horseradish was delicious!

Caribbean bread pudding soufflé that you can dunk in a coconut anglaise. This was unreal.

Intense chocolate brownie, I want a lot more!

If you are planning to stay overnight we recommend the new Taconic Hotel, a Kimpton property that is just up the street from the restaurant.
For something to do Hildene is a must see. The summer home of President Lincoln's son Robert with spectacular views.

Make sure you call the Silver Fork for a reservation well in advance at 802-768-8444
