Applecrest Farm Orchard in Hampton Falls, NH

Nothing says fall like a trip to an apple orchard. Luckily living in New England affords us the opportunity to have an abundance of orchards and we are always on the hunt for something fun to do on a beautiful fall weekend. If you are like me and not the biggest fan of apple picking (much to my wife’s chagrin), you will be happy to check out a festival held at a local orchard in Hampton Falls, NH.

This brings us to our next Road Trip. We first visited Applecrest Farm for their Harvest Festival last year and to say it was busy is an understatement. We had to wait in traffic just to get into the parking area and there were people as far as the eye could see. There are many reasons why this place is so popular - hay rides, apple picking, live music, pick your own pumpkins, pony rides, face painting, and of course, food.

We decided to visit the farm again but we went a little earlier this year in hopes of avoiding the crowds. So we were off on an adventure to Hampton Falls and Applecrest Farm.

There is a food tent where you can smell the hot dogs and burgers cooking. Since we had eaten breakfast not too long before our arrival, we decided to pass on the heavier options but couldn’t pass up trying the roasted corn on the cob. They leave it in the husk to hold in all the flavor.

For any corn lovers this is a must try:

There is also a country store where you will find fresh baked goods, produce, ciders, cut flowers, and of course, pumpkins.

And don't forget the live music:

The farm is open from May to December seven days a week from eight to six. Keep in mind that their Harvest Festivals begin on the first weekend in September and go until the end of October on Saturdays and Sundays from eleven to five. Make sure you plan your road trip accordingly to ensure that you don't miss the roasted corn and music that starts at one. You have a couple more weekends this year or you can start planning for 2014. It is always a good idea to call ahead if you are traveling any distance at 6039263721.
